Dear Family and Friends,
We made it back! First, we want to thank you again for all your support. Going across the United States as a group of twenty one is not always an easy task. In the end, God protected and blessed us. For this, we give Him all the glory.
The purpose of this mission trip was to help John and Dianne Woods at their church, Valley Baptist Church, in Winslow Arizona. During the Sunday morning service, we led all of the children's ministries. In the afternoon, we went out to many different apartment complexes going door to door inviting children to VBS. We did have several children come to VBS through this ministry. Monday through Thursday, we led the VBS at the church. We arrived at the church around 8:30 every morning and finished around 12:45. We taught, organized registration, led games, crafts, songs, did skits and a drama, and had a van route to pick up and drop off children. Every student was involved in different aspects of this ministry. On Wednesday evening, we led a teen outreach activity at the local park. THere were 42 teens. We played games, shared the gospel, and ate pizza. It was a great night of fellowship.
Doing ministry kept us busy. By the time VBS and our three meals a day were done, there was not much more time left in the day, but we did get to experience some of Arizona. On Tuesday and Thursday we were blessed to go to the "small" Painted Desert. We even got to hike into it on the ridges. Thursday was the fourth of July, so we enjoyed the Winslow fireworks. One of the neat things about this was that we were able to see some of the VBS kids there. We even sat next to some. Friday, we were able to travel to the Grand Canyon. The letters" g-r-a-n-d" do not do justice to God's creation!
What an awesome time to be together as a youth group and serve the Lord. Team devotions were a special part of this trip and I know we have grown closer in unity.
Please feel free to talk to the teens you supported and ask them all about the trip. They will be able to share all the specifics that I just cannot fit onto one page.
For the sake of the gospel,
The Missions Team
