Passage for this week - John 12
Read it in a different version here: BibleGateway.com
What is koinonia? It is a Greek word used in the New Testament translated as "fellowship". You can find it in portions of Scripture such as I John 1:3-10..."if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have "fellowship" (KOINONIA) with one another and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
The special thing about this word is that it does not just mean "getting together and having fun", although that can happen. The use of this word more specifically defined means that a group of believers gather together to verbally help build up each other's faith.
So what does this "fellowship" look like? It is verbal interaction with other believers that:
-stirs our hearts to stand firm in the Lord's statutes
-motivates a stronger desire to be controlled by the mercy and grace of Christ's sacrifice which
-requires and enables us to magnify God.
